CAS - CERN Accelerator School: Beam Injection, Extraction and Transfer: Erice, Italy 10 - 19 Mar 2017

These proceedings on the special topic of beam injection, extraction and transfer, summarise a series of lectures which was held in the frame of the CERN Accelerator School, CAS, in Erice 2017. Following introductory talks on electromagnetism, relativity and the basics of beam dynamics, different injection and extraction schemes are presented. Special magnetic and electrostatic elements for the case of lepton- and hadron-beams are explained and examples of the technical layout of state of the art kicker and septa designs are discussed. The programme was completed with seminars and lectures on more sophisticated topics related to stripping injection and the special features of resonant extraction, as used e.g. in machines for medical applications.
