Sumario: | The tracking system of the CMS detector provides excellent resolution for charged particle tracks and
an efficient way of tagging jets. In order to reconstruct good quality tracks, the position and orientation
of each silicon pixel and strip module needs to be determined with a precision of several micrometers.
In this note the performance of the alignment of the CMS tracker with data taken during 2018 is presented.
First the performance is shown after alignment with cosmic ray tracks collected prior to the start of proton-proton ($pp$) collision data taking in 2018.
Then, the performance of the alignment achieved with cosmic ray tracks and a complete set of proton-proton collision data recorded at 3.8 T magnetic field collected at $\sqrt{s}=13\,$TeV is presented.
Data-driven validation of the results are shown. The stability of the calibrations against time-dependent movements of the detector large-scale structures is demonstrated, as well as uniformity of the charged particle momentum scale, making use of Z$\rightarrow\mu\mu$ decays. |
