description The dilution system of the LHC beam dump system is used to distribute the energy deposition at the dump block for every beam dump. In this work, failure scenarios like partially lost dilution or changes in the beam sweep path due to erratic firing of the dilution kicker magnets are investigated. The implications these failure cases could have for upgraded horizontal kickers from Run 3 on are studied. The upgraded kicker magnets maintain the bunch density at the dump or give even some improvements. Furthermore, a change in the kicker waveforms is analyzed with the conclusion that the new kicker waveforms should be maintained. A last part examines the sensitivity of bunch density to the LHC filling scheme showing that only the beam entrance window of the dump is very sensitive to the used filling scheme.
