Study of Higgs boson production in association with $t\bar{t}$ quark pairs at $\sqrt{s}$ = 13 TeV with the ATLAS detector

The coupling of the top quark and the Higgs boson is an essential measure to test the Standard Model of particle physics. An associated production of a Higgs boson with a pair of top quarks ($t\bar{t}H$) provides a direct access to this coupling. One of the dominant decay modes includes a single lep...

description The coupling of the top quark and the Higgs boson is an essential measure to test the Standard Model of particle physics. An associated production of a Higgs boson with a pair of top quarks ($t\bar{t}H$) provides a direct access to this coupling. One of the dominant decay modes includes a single lepton, a neutrino and six quarks, at least four of which are bottom flavoured. In this thesis boosted topologies of this final state are analysed to investigate possible strategies to exploit data taken at the ATLAS experiment using a total integrated luminosity of approximately 80 fb$^{-1}$ at $\sqrt{s}$ = 13 TeV. Multivariate methods prove to significantly enhance the overall expected sensitivity of the search in boosted final states, evaluated by performing maximum likelihood fits on so-called "Asimov data sets". Prospects of the expected performance are formulated and compared to previous results.
