Sumario:This is a prototype for a new pixel detector for the ATLAS Experiment. The future pixel detector will be part of a new, all-silicon inner tracker (ITk) currently under development for the High-Luminosity phase of the LHC (HL-LHC). The ITk will replace the current inner detector, using state-of-the art silicon technologies to cope with the increased rate of collisions expected at the HL-LHC. As shown in the image, the pixel outer barrel region will feature sensors tilted with respect to the beam axis, helping to improve the tracking performance while reducing the total silicon area.
