Sumario:A search for charged lepton flavor violating decays $\tau\to3\mu$ has been performed using proton-proton collisions with a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. The analysis uses the data set collected by the CMS detector in 2016, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 33 fb$^{-1}$, and exploits $\tau$ leptons produced in D and B meson decays. No signal is observed, and an upper limit of $8.8\times 10^{-8}$ is set at the $90\%$ confidence level on the branching fraction of the $\tau$ lepton to three muons.
