Searches for Non-Resonant Double Higgs Production and Projections for the (HL-)LHC

An overview is presented of the latest searches for non-resonant Higgs boson pair production, performed by the ATLAS and CMS collaborations using around 36fb$^{-1}$ of data obtained at a centre-of-mass collision energy of 13 TeV. Also presented are studies examining the prospects for investigating Higgs boson pair production with the ATLAS and CMS collaborations in the context of the High-Luminosity LHC, which is expected to provide 3000fb$^{-1}$ of data at a centre-of-mass collision energy of 14TeV.
