Various extensions of the SM addressing these questions, like theories with a composite Higgs sector or extra dimensions, predict heavy resonances at the TeV scale, which couple to top and bottom quarks. In this talk we present the latest results of the search for vector-boson resonances decaying to a top quark and bottom quark (W'->tb) in final states with an electron or muon plus jets using 36.1/fb of proton-proton collision data, collected by the ATLAS detector in 2015 and 2016 during LHC run2 at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. The search covers resonance masses between 0.5 and 5.0 TeV and considers right-handed W’ bosons. We then present prospects for W'->tb resonance searches at the high luminosity with 3000/fb proton–proton collision data at a centre-of-mass energy of 14 TeV.
