Sumario: | Planned to be operational during LHC Run-3, the core of the SMOG2 project is based on a new part called the storage cell. This new system should allow to multiply by a factor 8 to 35, according to the gas specie, the areal densities previously reached with SMOG by injecting the same flow rate, and to inject new species such as deuterium. Molflow+ will beusedtosimulatethestoragecellandLHCb’s VELORFboxtoapproximatetheimpactofthe outcoming getterable gas on the NEG-coated surface of the RF box. As part of the project, it will also be shown that gas areal density loss through leaks due to the non-perfect closing of the storage cell are negligible. |
