description | During the second long shutdown (LS2) of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) major upgrades of the four experiments are made. In the case of the LHCb detector, this means that all sub-detectors have to be re-designed to comply with the new operation conditions. One vital component is the Ring Imaging Cherenkov (RICH) detector system. New Multi-Anode Photomultipliers (MaPMTs) will replace the old hybrid photo detectors (HPDs). For those MaPMTs simulations of the anode output current for are necessary, since it has a major influence on their life-time. This report presents such simulations for various parameters as the occupancy, high-voltage (HV), and additional biasing voltages of the last two dynodes. At the end the simulation results are compared with a single laboratory measurement. The simulation results suggest at which position which MaPMTs should be installed in the RICH detectors. |
