description The main goal of this project was to design, build and test a pair of irises to be placed in MIRACLS Proof-of-Principle set-up in ISOLDE, CERN. The reason why this iris design was needed is the unusual behaviour of the hyperfine spectrum centroid, which indicates that the ion beam enters the MR-ToF under an angle. The plan is to install these irises before and after the MR-ToF device, align them with the MR-ToF axis and use them as reference points to make sure that the ion beam enters the MR-ToF in zero-degree angle. This is important for the collinear laser spectroscopy performed in the set-up, as angles between the ion and laser beam axis result in systematic uncertainties in the extracted isotope shifts.
