Sumario: | The ATLAS detector is a general detector used to study protonproton collisions created from the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The detector consists of the Inner Detector, the Calorimeters, the Muon Spectrometer, and the magnet systems. The purpose of the Inner Detector is to track the charged particles’ trajectory with the use of silicon detectors. The calorimeters measure the energy of photons, electrons, and quarks. The muon spectrometer measures the tracks of muons. The magnet system create a magnetic field that causes charged particles to bend, and allows the momentum to be measured. |
