Sumario: | The aim of the LHC Injectors Upgrade (LIU) project at CERN is to upgrade the components of the accelerator chain, the “LHC injectors”, which feed particle beams into the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), so that it can produce more intense beams. In the injector known as the Proton Synchrotron Booster (PSB), the energy of the protons extracted needs to increase from 1.4 to 2 GeV, and the higher beam intensity will increase the performance required from the PSB radio-frequency (RF) acceleration system. |
