Report on the Prompt Dose Distribution Along the LHC Based on BLM Data for proton-proton operation in Run 2

In this report dose levels and the distributions of the prompt total ionising dose along the LHC for the proton-proton operation are presented for Run 2, covering the accelerator operation periods in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018. The dose values are based on the readings from the LHC ionisation chamber...

Sumario:In this report dose levels and the distributions of the prompt total ionising dose along the LHC for the proton-proton operation are presented for Run 2, covering the accelerator operation periods in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018. The dose values are based on the readings from the LHC ionisation chamber beam loss monitors (BLMs). The data of more than 3500 monitors are included in this report providing a high granularity of measurement points which results in detailed map of the dose distribution along the LHC. In addition important parameters, e.g. the integrated beam intensities and the integrated luminosities, are presented as well. In order to compare the different operation periods and to investigate the evolution of the beam losses over the four years, the dose distributions are normalised depending on the position in the accelerator with either the integrated intensity or the integrated luminosity. Dose distribution plots and selected dose levels are presented for every interaction region (IR) and every arc section in the LHC.
