Sumario: | On Sat January 25th ESA astronaut Luca Parmitano led the 4th and final spacewalk to service the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS) on the International Space Station, together with NASA astronaut Drew Morgan. AMS scientists followed the operation and performed a series of leak checks for the AMS’s POCC (Payload Operations Control Centre) at CERN. Deputy spokesperson Mike Capell from MIT and Tracker Pump System expert Giovanni Ambrosi from INFN Perugia led the action at the POCC. AMS principal investigator prof. Samuel Ting was in the control room and in contact with NASA during the operation. |
