description In 2020, the Arts at CRN Guest Artist programme, will invite artists for short visits to CERN to explore ideas related to art and science, among them is Samoa Remy from Switzerland. Samoa Rémy is a visual artist originally from Switzerland, who has been living in Oslo the last twenty years. In her current PhD-project she is among other pairing research on subatomic particles with another area of interest: the fact that in most of the archaical cosmogonies, sound was perceived to be the basic matter. Her work is characterised by a constant search for the interval that re-establishes a certain equilibrium between opposing forces. In weaving together several artistic media like installation, drawing, prints, sculpture and video, she often creates a 'whole' that instills a subtle upheaval of the order and control generally created by the human being. With her art she is interested in creating connections on a visual and conceptual level, and in expanding the temporal view. She explores connection between the historic and the contemporary, and make artworks which express tensions between inner and outer forces. Her work is to a large extent characterised by reflections around the endless amounts of semantic possibilities which originate in the process of decontextualisation and recontextualisation of disparate images.
