description | The performance of the accelerators at CERN critically depends on the overall beam coupling impedance of the individual elements. Bench measurements of the electromagnetic behaviour of existing and new pieces of equipment are therefore regularly carried out prior to the installation in the accelerators. This note discusses the measurements carried out on the two new internal beam dumps for the PS. The aim of the measurement is to identify the intrinsic resonances of the device and to compare with the simulated results. This validates the impedance of the built units as predicted by the CST model derived from the CATIA geometry ST0944915. |
