Sumario: | The TCLD (Target Collimator Long Dispersion suppressor) collimator, is put in its cryostat in the LHC tunnel on both sides of Point 2 (here one of the sides), where the ALICE experiment is located. This type of collimators are used to clean local losses that would otherwise occur in the cold dipoles and quadrupoles. These collimators work at room temperature and are installed in a dedicated cryogenics by-pass. This upgrade is part of the High-Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC) project. |
