description | The ALICE High Momentum Particle Identification Detector is based on Ring Imaging CHerenkov counters designed to identify pions, kaons, and protons. For the LHC Run 3 data taking pe-riod, the HMPID will undergo an upgrade where two aluminum absorbers will be added to two RICH counters to enable the measurement of the inelastic cross-section for (anti)-deuterons. The measurement of (anti)deuteron production and overall (anti)nuclei production is important to understand the mechanism of multi-baryon states and it’s association to dark matter decay. Therefore, before the planned upgrade and the usage of data for methods of deuteron detection, the HMPID team needs to implement a procedure to enable e↵ective data taking by defining a set of plots that will provide information about the quality of the HMPID data. We will monitor data taking and analyze the stability of the Multi-Wire Proportional Chamber’s through a series of plots that can illustrate detector performance. The various plots illustrate local X and local Y residual distribution for the MWPC, MIP charge distributions for each RICH counter, and a plot of the HMPID cherenkov angles as a function of track momentum ranging up to 5 GeV/c. Overall, the data taking performance of the HMPID will be shown in a set of plots in order to prepare and establish proper charged hadron identification in the upcoming LHC Run 3. |
