HF spindles removal at CMS detector

High Frequency (HF) spindles are heavy mechanical devices used to lift and put in definitive position the HF subdetector when CMS detector is closed. These devices are mechanical jacks embedded on cavern floor. For the first time since CMS' construction, the HF spindles are removed for major maintenance. They are brought to surface and then sent to an expert company in Germany for refurbishment.
