These measurements and the subsequent results are suspected to be substantially influenced by both the BPM types used for the measurements and the value of the β-function at measuring BPMs. This study aims to verify those dependencies and gain insight on which conditions provide the best possible sets of measurements, for further applications to measurement and correction algorithms. To test the aforementioned hypothesis, some reasonable assumptions are made on BPM measurements and several calculations are derived from distribution properties underlying to these measurements. These were then applied to BPM data from the LHC Run II. The results proved the above hypothesis, showing a strong dependence of the measurements’ accuracy on BPM types and their β-functions. These results give insight on how to improve the accuracy of key measurements and open up potential applications in optimizing some of the methods used for optics reconstructions for the LHC.
