Sumario: | Radio frequency traps are, theoretically, relatively simple to build and can be an asset to professional physicists, enthusiasts, and educators alike. The mathematics used to predict how the traps and the particles inside them will behave at different scales apply only to situations where air resistance need not be regarded. This report will explore these behaviours in linear radio frequency traps when air resistance is taken into consideration by simulating ions in such traps and come to a conclusion on the practicalities of building them at various scales in order to trap lycopodium club moss spores. |
