Four Top Production at the LHC

description Searches are presented for four-top-quark production from both the CMS and ATLAS collaborations using Run 2 proton-proton collision data at the LHC with a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. Searches are performed across two major channels: the two same-sign lepton and multi-lepton channel (SSML), and the one lepton and two opposite-sign lepton channel (1LOS). In the SSML channel, CMS obtained a 2.6$\sigma$ observed significance and ATLAS obtained a 4.3$\sigma$ observed significance. In the 1LOS channel, ATLAS obtained a 1.9$\sigma$ observed significance and CMS obtained a 0.0$\sigma$ observed significance. In all cases, the measured four-top-quark production cross section was consistent with the Standard Model prediction within 2 standard deviations.
