description | My Summer Student project was framed in the LS2 CMS iPipe upgrade. My responsibility was to compute the calibration and recalibration coefficients for all of the CMS Central Beam Pipe sensors. I calibrated and recalibrated the FBG-based monitoring system meant to detect temperature fluctuations on the CMS central BP, the Endcap, and the HF-CT2. The findings gave us the calibration equation for each of the ipipe3's 90 FBGs, demonstrating the Fiber Bragg Grating sensors' reliability and sensitivity. We may deduce that recalibration is required after installation to account for the mechanical impact of this process and during bakeout to account for changes induced by thermal elongation caused by the exposure to high temperatures. Finally, following the calibration and recalibration procedure, we see that all sensors are fully functioning and ready for data collection following the LS2. |
