Sumario:Noxious gases may present a toxic hazard or an explosion risk, therefore it is important to understand how such gases propagate at workplaces. In this project, we study the propagation of these gases in closed rooms, derive their concentration and compare results from different methods. Simple analytic models allow a quick assessment of gas propagation, but they are based on unrealistic assumptions. The purpose of the present work is to test the validity of the Well-Mixed Box model in a realistic case of a ventilated room with heat input. The convention-diffusion equation describing the spread of the contaminant in the flow field of air in the room cannot be solved analytically and the method for solution is a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation.
