description | A jet is a collimated cone of particles, that are produced by high energy quarks and gluons. However sometimes jets, called semi-visible, are formed form Dark Matter particles. It is assumed that there is a dark sector, consisting of new particles, forces and interactions, which has a communication with Standard Model. In this hidden Dark Matter sector there are dark quarks, binded into dark hadrons. Dark quarks with big transverse momentum shower and produce collimated sprays of dark hadrons. Some of this dark hadrons can decay to visible particles, the ones from Standard Model. This particles are collimated and form a jet, which looks very similar to an ordinary QCD jet, but it’s a semi-visible jet, because dark hadrons took part in the formation of this jet. The jets have following characteristics: transverse momentum (pT), pseudorapidity (η), azimuthal angle (φ) and missing transverse energy (MET). The main goal is to learn how to differentiate background jets from the semi-visible jets. In this project we try to generate an image for each jet and classify the images via Machine Learning techniques. |
