description This report summarizes what I did during my CERN summer intern and describes the project I have been working on. The main part of my summer studentship was dedicated to a project called “Researching the potential of a novel ATLAS trigger strategy to search for a new light particle decaying to heavy-flavoured jets.” In this report information is given about the ATLAS Detector and then the trigger systems used in ATLAS are discussed. The report concludes with the results of the study to find a new light particle decaying to heavy-flavoured jets by mentioning the new triggering strategies, which are the subject of the project.
