Sumario:After the discovery of the Higgs boson, the ultimate test of the electroweak symmetry breaking and the Standard Model (SM) of particle physics is to establish evidence of Higgs boson self-coupling, which can be achieved by searching for pair production of Higgs bosons. In addition, many theories beyond the SM predict heavy resonances that could decay into pairs of Higgs bosons. Searches for resonant and non-resonant pair production of Higgs bosons performed by the ATLAS experiment using the data collected during Run 2 of the LHC are presented. Recent results based on the full Run 2 dataset in the $bbbb$, $bb\tau\tau$ and $bb\gamma\gamma$ channels are emphasized and compared to the combined ATLAS results based on the data collected during 2015 and 2016.
