Investigation of feasibility studies of non-resonant search for the HH → bbV V process in the 0 lepton channel.

This report present feasibility studies of non-resonant Higgs boson in the b¯bWW∗ - decay channel. The main focus of this work is on the final state where both W-bosons decay hadronically. The HH →b¯bWW∗ →bbqqqq branching fraction is the second largest after HH →b¯bb¯b, so this final state can be sens...

description This report present feasibility studies of non-resonant Higgs boson in the b¯bWW∗ - decay channel. The main focus of this work is on the final state where both W-bosons decay hadronically. The HH →b¯bWW∗ →bbqqqq branching fraction is the second largest after HH →b¯bb¯b, so this final state can be sensitive to HH production if the signal can be well separated from the dominant tt¯ and multijet backgrounds. In the work studied the kinematic of the signal HH →b¯bWW∗ →bbqqqq and their comparison with the tt¯ background. Several machine learning algorithms were also used to assess possible background suppression and approximate signal sensitivity.
