Sumario:During the upcoming High-Luminosity phase of the Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC) the integrated luminosity of the accelerator will increase enormously. In order to cope with the future high-luminosity LHC, a challenge for all the existing experiments at the LHC, the CMS experiment, needs to quickly identify high momentum muons because these are a key characteristic signature of new physics processes. To ensure a highly performing muon system for this period, several upgrades of the Resistive Plate Chamber (RPC) system of CMS have been performed. These include the replacement of the readout system for the present system and the installation of two new RPC stations with improved chamber and front-end electronics designs. In the forward regions of the CMS muon endcaps, novel gaseous detector technologies are being introduced, capable of handling high particle rates. The improved Resistive Plate Chambers (iRPC) technology will be used in the two outer stations of the muon endcaps.
