description
Almost ten years since the discovery of the Higgs boson, the BEH mechanism’s fundamental role in the observed pattern of the fermion masses remains unproven. The successful measurement of the Higgs boson couplings to third generation fermions by ATLAS and CMS confirmed the BEH picture. It was further corroborated by first measurements of Higgs boson decays to muon pairs, advancing the frontier of sensitivity to the even more challenging coupling to the charm quark. The seminar presents recent milestones of the ATLAS programme to probe the Higgs boson’s coupling to the charm quark through a variety of experimental approaches, including a direct search for the Higgs boson decay to a charm quark pair and indirect constraints from the measurement of the Higgs boson transverse momentum distribution. The current overall understanding is summarised, and prospects for the future of the LHC programme are given.

LHC Seminar - ATLAS: https://cern.zoom.us/j/65387716991?pwd=WE8xY2VKZ0N0K1NIQTVwVmJaamYwUT09
