description A number of measurements related to the study of hadronic jet substructure in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV with the CMS experiment are presented. The measurement of jet substructure observables describing the distribution of particles within quark- and gluon-initiated jets is carried out with dijet and Z+jet event samples. The calibration of algorithms developed for the identification of hadronically decaying heavy particles is also reported. The results improve the understanding of jet composition and extend the horizon of the LHC physics program.
