One of the first neutrino events registered at CERN. A penetrating particle is emitted close to the forward direction (neutrinos come from the right in these pictures). It traverses several hundred g/cm2 of material without showing any interactions but multiple scattering,_and stops in the chamber. From_an analysis of the_thousands of tracks of this type found, it was concluded that almost all of them are due to muons. The few side sparks at the origin have presumably been caused by a recoll proton.
