If you aren’t sure what an ASN is or what MPLS does then these lectures are for you. Although our speakers will cover how the internet was born—and touch on the role that institutes such as CERN played in its development—the focus will be on the technologies, both hardware and software, that enable interconnect billions of devices and move exabytes of data. Even if you do know what an ASN is and understand MPLS, you’re be bound to learn something as these experts explain the rules and standards that regulate these technologies and how they are created and agreed.</span></span></p> <div><span><span><strong>BIO:</strong></span></span></div> <div>&nbsp;</div> <div>Colin Perkins is an Associate Professor in the School of Computing Science at the University of Glasgow and the current chair of the Internet Research Task Force. His research interests are on network transport protocols, with a particular&nbsp;focus on protocols for real-time and interactive multimedia on&nbsp;the Internet, and on improving the way we design, implement, specify,&nbsp;and standardise network protocols. He’s a long-time participant in IETF, where he helped develop technical standards for the&nbsp;multimedia transport and signalling protocol standards that&nbsp;underpin modern video conferencing platforms. He co-chairs the IETF's&nbsp;Real-time Media Congestion Avoidance Techniques working group, and&nbsp;previously co-chaired the&nbsp;Audio/Video Transport&nbsp;and&nbsp;Multiparty&nbsp;Multimedia Session Control&nbsp;working groups.</div>
