Welding work in building 180

The work took place on the “Large press” in building 180. This machine allows the compression and welding of a variety of cold mass configurations. It has two welding systems (MIG & TIG) which can traverse and perform welds over the full length of the press. The welding systems are semi-automated and require welding technicians to operate in accordance with the predefined parameters. Here, Gregory Bach and Jose Ferreira-Gomes were TIG welding test plates under the coordination of Tavis Bampton.
