LHC Operation: Experience and New Tools

This contribution presents a general overview of the LHC operation in 2017. It outlines the experience gained during the year after all the machine improvements (ATS optics, 30 cm $\beta$* and crossing angle leveling at IPs 1 and 5, RF full-detuning, etc.) that were put in place since 2016 and how the machine performance was affected. New software tools or updates on the existing ones are also discussed.
