Study of anomalous gauge couplings using $\W^\pm Z $ channel in ATLAS

We studied the impact of dimension six EFTs operators of the effective field theory framework of the QCD mediated $W^{\pm} Z$ production in the fully leptonic decay channel $p p \rightarrow W^{\pm} Z \rightarrow \ell \nu \ell \ell$ with up to two additional jets in the matrix element and EW mediated...

description We studied the impact of dimension six EFTs operators of the effective field theory framework of the QCD mediated $W^{\pm} Z$ production in the fully leptonic decay channel $p p \rightarrow W^{\pm} Z \rightarrow \ell \nu \ell \ell$ with up to two additional jets in the matrix element and EW mediated Vector Boson Scattering $p p \rightarrow W^{\pm} Z j j \rightarrow \ell \nu \ell \ell j j$ in the VBS phase space on truth level. The decreasing contribution of dimension six effects from the inclusive to the VBS phase space is shown. In the range of the highest EFT sensitivity $M_{T}^{W^{\pm} Z}>600 \mathrm{GeV}$ the Standard Model $W^{\pm} Z$ production cross section are calculated to be $\sigma_{S M}^{Q C D}=0.180 \mathrm{fb}(\pm 0.021 \mathrm{fb}$ stat.) and $\sigma_{S M}^{E W}=0.0628 \mathrm{fb}(\pm 0.0031 \mathrm{fb}$ stat. $)$. The dimension six EFTs operators impact is calculated using the most recent ATLAS $W^{\pm} Z$ limits to be $\sigma_{\text {dim-6 }}^{Q C D}=$ $0.0499 \mathrm{fb}(\pm 0.0031 \mathrm{fb}$ stat. $)$ and $\sigma_{\text {dim-6 }}^{E W}=0.02161 \mathrm{fb}(\pm 0.00028 \mathrm{fb}$ stat. $)$. Which corresponds to a deviation of $\sim 30 \%$ of the $\mathrm{SM} \mathrm{} W^{\pm} Z$ production. In the VBS phase space this is a sizable contribution and should not be neglected in favor of dimension eight operators.
