Sumario:I illustrate the theory and applications of perturbative QCD. In the particularly simple context of e+ e- annihilation, I will illustrate the meaning of asymptotic freedom, the running coupling constant, the total cross-section, and jet production. I will then turn to production phenomena initiated by hadrons, illustrating the factorization theorem and its applications to deep inelastic scattering and hadron-hadron collisions.
