Long term aging test of the new PMTs for the HL-LHC ATLAS hadron calorimeter upgrade

Sumario: | In the HL-LHC phase we expect that PMTs installed in the ATLAS Tile Calorimeter, will collect a large anodic charge with a reduction of their response. Based on data collected on currently installed PMTs (Hamamatsu R7877), the Collaboration plans to replace a fraction ($\simeq$ 10\%) with a new model (Hamamatsu R11187)that will withstand that 600~C expected to be integrated by the ones reading the most exposed cells. In this work we present, for the first time, how model R11187 performs up to an integrated charge of 500~C. |
