description A model of the differential Cherenkov counter, CEDAR, for the NA62 experiment was developed using a computer program in order to simulate momentum scans, pressure scans, diaphragm align- ment, diaphragm scans, and photon scans. The primary purpose of the model is to allow for the user to quickly understand how to make approximate adjustments to the CEDAR for a set of parameters, particularly for different gases. Currently, the CEDAR is filled with nitrogen gas and tests will begin in the fall to check if hydrogen gas is more favorable and could replace the original gas. However, the current CEDAR simulation requires hours to run and no simple yet fast model has been made to understand how to adjust the CEDAR correctly. In order to test the reliability of the model, several plots were replicated from simulated data to compare them to plots from other papers that used real or simulated data. I found that the plots of the model were approximately similar to the previous plots, maintaining the general shapes and satisfying expectations, but further complexity implemented into the model may be useful to tighten the alignment between this model’s plots and other papers’ plots. However, the model appeared to sufficiently replicate plots to some degree and will likely be useful in quickly recognizing how to approximately adjust parameters accordingly.
