description | Systematic physics validation and regression testing of Geant4 is an essential tool for Geant4 development. A standalone simulation of the ATLAS Tile Calorimeter was developed to validate Geant4 with the results of the ATLAS 2017 testbeam of the Tile Calorimeter. The simulation was run for various versions of Geant4 with four different physics lists. The results for the energy response and energy resolution have been compared to the experimental data. For the currently recommended physics list, FTFP_BERT, a regression in the energy resolution has been found for Geant4 releases newer than version 10.4, worsening the agreement with data. This finding is consistent with previous validation studies. The simulation results were uploaded to Geant Val, an interactive database for Geant validation tests. |
