Sumario: | This summer student project investigates how the CMS experiment may search for new physics in a supersymmetric (SUSY) extension beyond the standard model. By using the LHC as a photon collider, sensitivity to slepton production can be increased, but this requires an efficient filtering mechanism of background signals. This project uses simulations to investigate the signature of background signals and tries to differentiate signals originating from the different open reaction channels with the purpose of differentiating SUSY signals from background events. Overall, the study suffers from a low amount of simulations made available during the internship and, as a consequence, this study does not present any new findings. |
