Sumario:This project tries to solve an important issue at the antimatter decelerator at CERN. Antihydrogen are produced in a Rydberg state, which is a highly excited state with a principal quantum number n∼30. However, Hyperstructure splitting and gravity measurements at the AEGIS and ASACUSA require ground state antihydrogen. Instead of waiting for spontaneous decay, we want to explicitly de-excite the Rydberg states with a light source in the THz regime. This project focus on producing THz light from a black body source. Four different black body sources were characterized for a proof-of-principle on highly excited hydrogen Atoms.
