Sumario: | With the aim of developing techniques to search for $\Lambda_{c}^{+}$ particles in ATLAS data, this project reconstructed the strange baryons $\Xi^{-}$ and $\Omega^{-}$ , which decay similarly into a $\Lambda$ and a charged bachelor meson. The daughter $\Lambda$ baryons were themselves reconstructed at a secondary (V0) vertex from their $p\pi^{-}$ decay products. Track selections were applied to all of the cascade daughter particles to optimise the significance of the reconstructed mass peaks of the $\Lambda$ and parent baryons. No $\Lambda_{c}^{+}$ c baryons were observed due to an overwhelming combinatorial background, but clear reconstructed mass peaks for $\Xi^{-}$ and $\Omega^{-}$ baryons were observed. |
