Sumario:Since 1 December 2022, CERN and Airbus UpNext, a wholly owned subsidiary of Airbus, have teamed up in an innovative collaboration to explore the potential use of superconducting technologies developed by CERN for particle accelerators in the electrical distribution systems of future hydrogen-powered aircraft. The aim is to evaluate how superconductivity can contribute to the decarbonisation of future aircraft systems. The Super-Conductor for Aviation with Low Emissions (SCALE) demonstrator aims to advance the adoption of superconducting technologies in airborne electrical distribution systems. Models are used as a tool in the project.
