The SPS transverse scraper system consists of a horizontal and vertical moveable finger of graphite that removes transverse tails due to losses on the transfer line collimators that are recorded by the LHC the LHC beam loss monitor (BLM) system. The two scrapers located in SPS are losing motor steps and given the importance of scraping in LHC, their reliability is not sufficient. A replacement of the one scraper is proposed during the technical stop, TS1 2023, to install an improved generation spare.
