Sumario: | The firmware design is a significant cause of project delays in the LHC experiment upgrades. In the past, older electronic systems were immediately usable after installation. However, recent experiences have shown that completing the firmware design and making the installed hardware functional can take several years. To address this, higher-level design approaches like high-level synthesis (HLS) have been adopted. My project as a summer student in CERN was focused on high level synthesis in part of the LATOME firmware. This report will document the process and progress in the High Level Synthesis for the firmware involved in the Liquid Argon Calorimeter in ATLAS. My aim was to not only to use the high level synthesis for the LaTOME board but also to create a workflow that would boost the process of High Level Synthesis by automating some tedious work. |
