description NA61/SHINE is a multipurpose fixed-target experiment located at the CERN SuperProton Synchrotron. One of the main goals of the experiment is to study thephase transition between the hadronic gas and quark-gluon plasma and search forthe critical point of the strongly interacting matter. To study the phasediagram of strongly interacting matter, the NA61/SHINE experiment performed thetwo-dimensional scan in collision energy and system size. In turn, strangenessproduction is a well-known valuable probe for understanding particle productionin high-energy physics because of the absence of the strange valence quarks inthe initial state of the collision. The talk will emphasize the importance ofmeasuring the strangeness production for the discussion concerning the onset ofdeconfinement and present the general strategy of the analysis.
