The upgrades involve a complete replacement of the inner tracking system (ITS) and the installation of the muon forward tracker (MFT), both of which are entirely instrumented with monolithic CMOS pixel sensors, the replacement of the TPC readout chambers with GEM chambers, the installation of a fast interaction trigger (FIT) detector as well as upgrades of the readout and data acquisition of the other detector systems. A key aspect of the upgrade is the change to a continuous readout strategy and the installation of a new online processing farm (EPN) for synchronous reconstruction, which makes extensive use of GPUs for track reconstruction. In this presentation, we will present the upgrades of the ITS, the TPC, and the new Online-Offline event processing systems and discuss the experience with commissioning and the performance in the first 2 years of pp data taking.

Coffee will be served at 10:30.
|
