Measurement of ttW and ttbb from ATLAS and CMS

description | The production of $t\bar{t}$ in association with a W boson ($t\bar{t}W$) or in association with a b-quark pair ($t\bar{t}b\bar{b}$) are rare SM signatures that can be probed at the LHC. These processes are also important background sources for the $t\bar{t}H$ and $t\bar{t}t\bar{t}$ SM measurements, as well as for various BSM physics searches. Recent results from ATLAS and CMS report that these two backgrounds are usually underestimated by the MC generators, further motivating their precise measurement. This talk presents the most recent measurements of $t\bar{t}W$ and $t\bar{t}b\bar{b}$ production cross sections from both experiments. Interesting observables such as the relative charge asymmetry and the leptonic charge asymmetry are also measured for $t\bar{t}W$. The measurements are performed at the detector level with a profile likelihood fit to data and by unfolding the observables at particle level using the profile likelihood unfolding technique. |
